| For sixteen years, we have
concentrated our efforts on the development of better methods of infection control in
treatment of periodontal (gum) diseases. When proper measures are employed to eliminate the
infections surrounding the roots of the teeth, patients can enjoy long-term recovery from
destructive periodontal diseases. These diseases are infections caused by bacteria
acquired from saliva transfer by kissing, sharing utensils, etc. Our highly successful
model of treatment involves bacteriologic screening that includes intimate persons and
treating all infected family members when indicated. Periodontal infections can be
associated with serious side effects, and if untreated can lead to bad breath (halitosis),
loss of bone support around teeth and loss of teeth.
Periodontal infections have been implicated as risk factors
in heart disease and stroke suggesting that gum disease may be a risk factor for
cardiovascular disease. Gum disease is apparently a risk factor for premature, low birth
weight babies. These associations emphasize the importance of oral health to overall
health.
Research findings show that there are two alternatives for
the treatment of periodontal infections, surgical and nonsurgical.

Our treatment
consists of diagnosing and treating anaerobic infections along with advice to promote natural
healing without surgery. This treatment
based on findings documented in many research studies over the last thirty years, can
often save teeth that would be immediately extracted when surgery is used.
